OROL: Election 1996

There are 3 open positions this year in the Oyster River School District: 2 seats on the School Board, and the Moderator. The election for these positions will be held on 5 Mar. 1996 at the Oyster River High School. There was a forum for the School Board Candidates on 12 Feb. at 7:00 p.m. at Oyster River High School. The forum will be broadcast on Continental Cable channel 12 on Saturday, 16 Feb. at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 17 Feb. at 5:00 p.m.

The open School Board seats are those currently held by Shirley Thompson and Robert Sterndale. They are both at-large seats, representing all 3 towns together. Shirley Thompson was elected 3 years ago. Robert Sterndale was appointed last November to complete the term of Georgina Burt. Friday, 26 Jan. 1996 was the last day for candidates to register for these positions. These are the candidates for the School Board:

The Moderator runs the annual school district meeting. Dale Swanson has held this position for at least the last couple of terms. Dale Swanson is the only candidate running for Moderator. Dale Swanson received 1,805 votes.
