The preliminary budget for next year is $15.2 million. This is an increase of 4.8 percent over last year's budget of $14.5 million. Taxes are expected to rise about 6.6 percent because of lower revenues from other sources. The School Board will hold a hearing Wednesday, 31 Jan. 1996 at the High School to discuss the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. The budget will then be voted on at the 1996 annual district meeting. The proposed budget was approved.
The New Hampshire legislature has passed Senate Bill 2 to allow the district to have official ballots instead of annual meetings. A petition for SB2 has been filed with ORSD for a vote at the 1996 annual district meeting. SB2 was approved for the Oyster River School District with 1716 (68%) to 801 (32%) of the vote.
The New Hampshire Presidential Primary will be held in Feb. 1996.
