Responsibility
Education is important. We must be sure that all students are well educated. That is our responsibility as parents and citizens. It is not easy to educate all children. For some it is difficult, but we must find a way. An open mind is important. It is wrong, and a detriment to society, to not give children the moral and scholatic education they need.
But we also must be fiscally responsible. As people retire, they should be
able to stay in their homes and the communities where they raised their families.
Educational Philosophy
Our schools must be willing to find what works for students. Students learn at different rates and with different techniques. But we must be willing to reach for each child. Every child must want to learn and want to come to school. It is not unreasonable to expect students to know certain things at certain times, but we must be flexible about how they get there.
Fiscal Philosophy
We must not spend our money on foolishness, but it is foolish not to be forward looking and consider the long term best interest of our young people. We must be willing to examine each situation critically and spend our money conservatively. But, schools are not like a business where we can cut our losses.
