"I have a strong interest in children and in public education. I believe it is a
community's responsibility to educate and nurture its youth to become
self-reliant, productive members of society. To accomplish this goal, we need to
foster life-long learning skills in cost effective ways. I am aware that the 90's
are difficult times for many people, but I also know that these are difficult
times to be a growing child. Schools, families and communities need to work
together to provide high quality education at an affordable price."
Joan Valentine
During a period of great change in the Oyster River School District, I believe I
can provide leadership and stability. I will do my best to serve our students and
our community with courtesy and respect for the opinions of others. I will
continue to question and to base my decisions on thoughtful reflection of:
- What's best for improving student learning?
- How many students will benefit?
- What is the impact on students, staff, families and the community?
- Is it cost effective?
- Is it affordable?
