2000 ORCSD Annual Report

There are 4 open positions this year in the Oyster River School District: 3 seats on the School Board, and the Moderator. The election for these positions will be held on 14 March 2000 in each of the 3 towns.

The open School Board seats are those currently held by Drew Christie from Durham, John Collins from Lee, and Joan Valentine from Madbury. Each of these seats represent a single town, though voters from all 3 towns may vote for all seats. They were all elected 3 years ago. Interested candidates must file between Wednesday, 26 Jan. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 4 Feb. 2000.

These are the candidates for the School Board:

The Moderator runs the annual school district meeting. Dale Swanson has held this position for the last several years. Dale Swanson is the only candidate for Moderator. Dale Swanson received 2,845 votes.

The warrant lists the issues to be voted on by the district. There are 2 sessions for the annual district meeting. The first session will be 8 Feb. 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at Oyster River High School. The warrant articles will be discussed and may be amended at this first session. The second session will be a ballot vote on 14 Mar. 2000 when the candidates are elected and the warrant articles are voted on.

The ballot for the warrant will list all warrant articles including the 4 petitions on a fund for a track, curriculum reform, a $15.5 million bond to renovate and expand ORHS, and a second 400 student high school submitted with 25 or more signatures of voters. The warrant also includes the budget for fiscal year 2001.
