Kathy McWilliams Durham, NH |
As a member of the School Board I will work towards a clear, concise, and measurable curriculum from K-12 that emphasizes academic rigor in math, science, history, and reading. A curriculum that is consistent across each grade level and that builds upon or continues the progress achieved in each grade. I also desire a formalized system that ensures that the curriculum is followed. I support Warrant Article 11.
I support the School Board's $20.4 million High School bond proposal. However, I would prepare a "Plan B" solution to the high school problems.
As a member of the School Board, I will work diligently to ensure that the concerns and suggestions raised by individuals in the community are heard, and that the community is kept informed of developments and decisions by the Board.
Curriculum Enrichment parent liaison at Moharimet Elementary School for the past two years. I helped bring the outside sculpture to life and I was instrumental in bringing the "femme mamie" concert to Moharimet last year.
Member of the Education Committee working on the Language Arts Presentation and the Family Math Night.
I worked on the Profile Committee in creating school report cards for the NH State Board of Education in 1999.
I moved from Farmingdale, NY in August of 1997 to ORSD because of its excellent reputation. I am a married, full-time mother with 4 children ages: 9,6,3 and 5 months.
I have a BBA in Finance from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. My professional work experience has been as a cost accounting manager at high tech companies such as Unitrode Corporation and General Instrument Corporation.
I am a person who gets things done, and would work hard to make sure that your voices are heard with the school board. Please support me in the School Board election on March 14.
