This year ended with a distasteful event~ the loss from arsonists of the high school's technical education shop. The custodial and maintenance teams used 395 hours working round the clock to ensure the school would be ready for occupancy in four days. The time and effort given by this group of men cannot be praised enough.
The maintenance team completed several minor construction projects to be utilized for additional classrooms and offices in several schools. They also completed numerous projects, preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, as well as maintained the sports fields for students and outside groups.
Oyster River High School had 1101 scheduled actions completed utilizing 1003 work hours, including repairs to the tennis court area fencing and resurfacing of the courts.
Oyster River Middle School accomplishments included 946 scheduled actions completed utilizing 566 man-hours, including dividing the transportation office to provide a section for the bus dispatcher/coordinator.
Mast Way School had 615 actions completed utilizing 561 man-hours, and this included converting the south commons area into a computer classroom with 30 modulars and making several changes and repairs to the playground equipment to improve student safety.
Moharimet School included 385 scheduled actions completed utilizing 307 man-hours, including the repair and replacement of panic devices on exit doors and preparing for and installing a new modular classroom unit.
The custodial team has worked continuously to provide students, staff, parents and the Oyster River School District with facilities in which to learn, work, and play during the school year. There were 3,754 facility permits issued for building usage, with 287 requiring additional setup assistance. The staff performance has been admirable; they have done their jobs professionally and conscientiously.
