Serving on a local school board has provided me with a sense of fiscal responsibility and accountability to the taxpayers. My main priority is to ensure quality of education for our students. To that end, I fully support updated facilities both in physical plant and technology, and the fostering of a learning community for our students, district employees and members of the community who support the Oyster River Cooperative School District at large. This can be achieved through long range financial planning and goal setting. The educational issues within the Oyster River school district are challenging. I believe it is important and possible to "work harder and smarter" at setting a course for balance between commitment to education and fiscal responsibility through accountability.
As a school board member I offer a "fresh outlook" and open mind to our lingering school district challenges while keeping a vision toward the future of the Oyster River Cooperative School District. I believe being an "out of the box" thinker allows for improving our school district in finding solutions to the challenging issues we face. The goal of public education is to insure that every child is given the right to a quality education in order to enable that child to become a lifelong learner and a productive member of society. It is the school boards responsibility to find a balance in providing the ability to achieve this goal while considering the financial means of the community.
