OROL: Election 2002

2002 Election Results

There are 3 open positions this year in the Oyster River School District: 2 at-large seats on the School Board, and the Moderator. The election for these positions will be held on 12 March 2002 in each of the 3 towns.

The open School Board seats are those currently held by Judith Burke and Shirley Thompson. Both of these seats are at-large, representing all 3 towns. Their terms are for 3 years. Thompson was reelected 3 years ago and Burke was elected 1 year ago to fill a vacated seat.

These are the candidates for the School Board:

The Moderator runs the annual school district meeting. William Shaheen held this position last year. No one is running for Moderator this year.

There are 2 sessions for the annual district meeting. The first session was Tuesday 5 Feb. 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Oyster River High School. The warrant lists the issues to be voted on by the district. The warrant articles were discussed and amended at the first session. The second session will be a ballot vote on 12 Mar. 2002 when the candidates are elected and the warrant articles are voted on.
