OROL: Mathematics Curriculum

The Oyster River School District is developing a new mathematics curriculum. Below is the curriculum "in progress" as well as references that support and oppose changes in mathematics curricula. If you find another resource you'd like included here, please let me know at editor@orol.org.

• The new Mathematics Curriculum (K-12) for the Oyster River School District.

• The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) 1989 standards are central to the New Hampshire framework and to the ORSD curriculum.

• The New Hampshire mathematics framework.

• MathLand, one of many commercial programs that implements the NCTM standards K-6.

• The American Mathematical Society recently carried a very thoughtful piece that was critical of both the traditional (1980s curriculum) and the proposed reforms.

• The organization Mathematically Correct is dedicated to preventing the "new-new-math" from becoming dominant.
