A Communication from the Oyster River School Board
By dint of a tremendous effort from the builders and by district staff and volunteers, classes will begin on time at the middle school. The classrooms in the north wing (former elementary school), south wing (along Coe Drive), and the gymnasium will be essentially complete on opening day. The site improvements at the entrance and in the bus turnaround will be graded and paved except for finish work and landscaping.
The lower floor hallway, tech-ed computer room, shop, cafeteria, and assistant principals' and guidance offices will be usable but not all finishes will be complete. On the first floor, the art rooms, work rooms, computer room, conference room, and principal's office will also be usable but may require additional finish work.
At present the new core stairs and elevator are "too close to call." The library, kitchen, second floor classrooms, and several storage areas will not be ready for occupancy until mid- to late-September. It is expected that all construction work will be completed by late September with final project completion in mid-October.
