PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

The Oyster River School Board has decided to postpone the scheduled October 12 vote on the High School Renovation/Addition Project. The Board hopes to reschedule the vote for mid November.

From the beginning the Board believed the key to having a successful project was having the right team in place. Recent variations in projected constructed costs and changes at the construction manager's office have caused the administration and the board to reconsider the decision to proceed with the project before first firming up the project's price and checking with a number of interested constructions managers.

Because the Board believes we have an outstanding project that addresses all of the issues at the high school they will immediately begin a search for a new construction manager. Given the quality and detail of the work done by Team Design the Board believes that a new construction management firm will be able to provide a preliminary guaranteed maximum price for the project within three to four weeks. This will allow adequate time to hold a vote on the project in November. Even with this short delay, the district should still be able to provide the high school with a completed academic wing for the start of school next September.
