Durham Police Chief David L. Kurtz, Durham Fire Chief Ronald O'Keefe, and State Fire Marshall Donald P. Bliss have announced that the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire that occurred on Wednesday evening, December 1, 1999 at the Oyster River High School has been completed. According to fire investigators, the fire was intentionally set in the school's construction technology shop at the rear of the building and spread quickly to combustible materials in the shop.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office and the Durham Police Department are continuing their effort to apprehend the person or persons who are responsible for the fire. Anyone with information concerning this fire should call the Durham Police Department at 603-868-2324 or the NH Arson Hotline at 1-800-400-3526.
