PTO and COMMITTEE NEWS

It was wonderful to see so many new faces at the first PTO meeting in September. We had a brief business meeting followed by a presentation of the Estuary Program by staff at the Wells Reserve and resumed our portion of the meeting with a discussion of the Volunteer Program, the Halloween Party and general thoughts and comments. Thank you for all the ideas and discussion Minutes of the meeting are posted on the bulletin board.

Many people signed up to volunteer for various committees and to help with upcoming events. It is not too late to sign up for volunteer opportunities that interest you! I have included a short explanation of the committees following this letter. In addition, you may be contacted by your classroom rep about your interest in helping with one or more of the activities that fits into your schedule. We appreciate your time and energy.

Thanks to Sue Wilkinson and Joleen Hanson for organizing the math and science closet this fall. The PTO gave money at the end of last year to expand the supplies here and teachers have indicated that they are enjoying the use of new books and equipment . Thanks also to Lori Lamb and Karen O'Keefe and their summer "staff" for keeping the courtyard garden watered, weeded and well during July and August.

October dates to remember: Roller skating at Happy Wheels on October 17, School Pictures on October 18, Halloween Party on October 25 (look for more about this fun filled night elsewhere in this issue from Lynn Allen).

The next PTO meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9:30 AM. We are trying to arrange child care for the daytime meetings. We would like to hear from you about whether or not this would be helpful to you in attending the meetings.

We hope you are enjoying the year!

WE NEED YOUR HELP !
