The 100th day of school is soon upon us, and that means Penny Day. Penny Day is Moharimet's celebration of the 100th Day of school, which falls this year on Wednesday, February 12 - barring any further snow days! Students are encouraged to bring in their pennies, which will be used as part of various classroom math activities. Each class will then bring their pennies to a group of parent volunteers who will count and roll all those pennies.!
The proceeds from Penny Day are donated to local charitable and nonprofit organizations. Last year over $450 was raised for the Make A Wish Foundation. This year the PTO has designated the Sandy Point Discovery Center in Stratham as the recipient of these funds, in keeping with Moharimet's "Year of the Coast." Sandy Point will use the money to build an outdoor kiosk or enclosed bulletin board to feature seasonal educational displays.
Any parent who would like to volunteer to count pennies that day please contact Lisa Morin (868-5610).
