Parent's night out is in full swing and we have had wonderful volunteers for the first half of the year. We have four more PNO evenings scheduled for this school year and we really need volunteers. Many people have verbally volunteered, or left a note. So I will be calling you to confirm soon for February. I usually start calling volunteers two weeks ahead of time, to start firming up arrangements.
For those of you whose forms get lost somewhere en route. Please free to call me, if I'm not available just leave a message with names of children who will be attending and a phone number to get back to you if there are problems. Otherwise, you can be assured there is space for last minute sign ups unless we are short of volunteers.
I have many people to thank for two different PNO's. December's PNO was a difficult one with many last minute volunteers dropping out. So I give extra special thanks to those 8 parent volunteers who handled 90 children, and this was a first for most of the volunteers-YES! Nancy Vatistas reports that school representative, Susan O'Byrne was a real life saver. She who has been a consistent volunteer. Thanks so much for supporting PNO. And thanks to Marian Tucker for opening up. Nancy and John Vatistas ran the evening with great enthusiasm and good limit setting. Thanks for caregivers: Nancy and Stephen Ransom, Cindy Lewis, Jenni and Toutkousian and Janet Bianchi (for coming in at last minute)! Again, Brenda Bouchers came up with a great craft ( candy cane reindeer's are always popular). Thanks to those who help by bringing snacks for the volunteers and movies for the kids: Yeuh-Chin Ng, Melody Cole, Chris Stearns, Rose Zarrow, the Gault's.
January's PNO was filled with 14 parent volunteers, and school representative Dennis Harrington. Thanks to all of you, special thanks to Dennis Harrington who gives so much of himself to us and the kids, and is a strong supporter of PNO! Teresa and John Trombley were in charge of a great crew of seasoned PNO volunteers: Jane and Pat Murphy, Brenda Borchers (who brought the origami craft and taught children how to fold at the craft table!), Steve and Wendy Slovenski, Ian MacDonald, Mike Glover, Peter Gariepy, Barbara Maurer, April and Mike Brown and Peter Brown. Having so many volunteers is great, thanks so much. Thanks for the snack and movie volunteers: Nina Berlin, Judy Malo, Golda Zarrow and Cynthia Lewis!
There were approximately 100 children enjoying the evening and I'm sure they send their thanks for all the volunteers that help PNO fly each month. Children really have fun and look forward to taking control of the school for the evening! December and January PNO raised over $400.00 for the PTO. Thanks to all of you who continue to support PNO by bring your children and we hope you get to enjoy yourselves too!
If you haven't volunteered and want to, please sign up in the front hall or give me a call. We really need volunteers for March, April and May PNO's. And again, if caregiving isn't your thing please think about bringing movies or snacks, just let me know.
Please contact me, Andrea Parsons at 743-6606, anytime for comments, ideas, concerns, joys and if you'd like more info about volunteering.
