Great things are afoot in the world of technology here at the high school. We are working on expanding our computer network inside and outside the building, getting more students involved in technology, upping the ante on Internet use and other projects.
The building technology committee has been looking into expanding the building's Ethernet network to include file servers, application servers, CD-ROM sharing and Macintosh/Windows support. We have found a vast amount of information, but no straight answers. The University of NH Computing Research people contacted us to ask if we needed any help, so we are now consulting with that group on what route we should take (for those who are interested, TCP/IP seems to be the best solution to look into).
The UNH group is also interested in pushing technology in the HS so that they can acquire graduating seniors from ORHS that want to go into the computing field. We will be networking with them in the future on this topic.
We finally, with the help of Barry Reinhold of the IOL group at UNH, been able to have the Windows based machine to run TCP/lP and access the Internet. Two terminals have been set up in the library to allow World Wide Web, FTP and Gopher sites to be accessed. These have turned out to be very popular, and we are trying to figure out where to acquire more machines to relieve the waiting lines.
If anyone would like to help spread the gospel of technology here at ORHS, I am looking for you. We need to push technology to the next level, and that will require community and business support. Should you want to help, please call me at 868-2375, ext.21. Thanks!

P.S. No one donated the PowerMac 8500 or the Pentium Multi-media system, but please know that if you change your mind, I am here! :- )
P.P.S. If anyone has a broken PowerBook Duo you want to get rid of, we are looking for a few parts to keep ours running. TNX.
