MATH DEPARTMENT
- Larger rooms
- Cluster rooms
- Math lab, manipulatives, room for classroom computers, computer access, storage, modem access

ENGLISH
- Classroom opening into library (or with better access)
- Classroom for video production connected with library/computer lab/publishing center
- More sophisticated faculty work area in each department
- *Clusters of classrooms around a common space which offer
storage, conference space, faculty work space
- A facility for small performances (drama and acting class,
poetry, reading, lectures) and viewing of videos, movies, etc. (double-triple classroom size)
- A few seminar rooms (for small classes)
- Availability of flexible space in each department so that more than one
class can meet in a space for interdisciplinary work
- Small carrel spaces for reading workshop
ART, BUSINESS, HOME ECONOMICS
- School store for marketing instruction

SCIENCE
- ***Cluster science classrooms together (near to industrial arts)
- Classrooms should be on south side of the building.
Life science classrooms should be south-facing (growing
areas) with immediate access to outdoor (external exits from
classrooms)

area (or internal hall access to this area from each

SOCIAL STUDIES
- Library should be easily accessible for all
classrooms. If stays in same spot as is now, the mezzanine
should be returned to library use as student/stacks/computer
lab/storage areas and not as classrooms
- Classrooms: departments should be organized in modular
manner, with rooms emptying out into a common area which
could be used for student/class/staff/gathering. This area
should have a department work/meeting/storage area
NURSE
- Health center for the next decade
- Easy access
- Near administrator and physical education
- Near labs and shop
PHYSICAL EDUCATION/ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
- Two full gyms or one and a half gyms that do not serve as a
hallway or thruway to the parking lot, locker rooms, and
planetarium
- Gym should have two full size basketball courts with a
divider (wooden) between them. Wood floor, padded walls,
automated and adjustable baskets
- Multipurpose room large enough for teaching station for:
volleyball, cheerleading practice, wrestling, table tennis,
aerobics, dance, badminton, tai-chi, batting cage, adaptive
PE. Room should be fully padded with a synthetic surface
flooring, recessed lighting, PA system. Should be adjacent
to main gym, weight training room, and locker rooms
- Six student locker rooms
- Coaches/officials locker
rooms (two)
- Office space in gym/locker room area
- Training room large enough for two trainers and six
student trainers. Storage area with cabinets, hot and cold
water with deep sink, adequate heat and illumination,
telephone system, computer, whirlpool, hydrocalator
- Classroom for athletics, CPR and first aid classes,
video with cable access), testing, lectures, team meetings
- Weight room large enough for Universal style machine,
free weights, and other machines. Floor should be carpeted
or padded, water available, illuminated, heated and properly
vented
- Pool for use by PE and athletics as well as community
during non-school use hours. (UNH availability is more
limited and more expensive each year. We are bottom of
totem pole for use because we pay less.)
- Track fully equipped and lighted, around soccer field
- Tennis courts, double amount of courts from three to
six. Water fountain available

fields between baseball, softball, and soccer area. Phone,

- Field for PE use only with:
Archery area, golfing area, croquet, beach volleyball,
horseshoe pits
- At least one more soccer-size field to allow a field to
"lie at rest" for a season occasionally, and for future use
in lacrosse
- Second baseball field with infield cut at 60 feet so it can
double as softball field
- Other wishes: Lights for soccer, baseball, and softball
fields; complete irrigation system for all fields; paved or
stone dust access road to all fields; baseball and softball
dugouts; and outdoor batting cage frame

- Carpeted classrooms (1/2 - 2/3) & l/3 - 1/2 tile floor

ART, BUSINESS, HOME ECONOMICS
SOCIAL STUDIES
- Faculty room needs to be central and bigger and adjacent to
outside (doors)
- A less annoying bell system, especially during lunchtime
- Student gathering areas, including a large area and some
smaller areas, distributed around the school. This would
include an area that is outside, but not muddy
- Cafeteria needs access to the outside area where they
are allowed to eat; seating should be different types, round
tables of differing sizes and chairs that move; the
cafeteria should be a nice gathering sport and not an
auditorium

MATH
- Screens in windows, windows that open
- Room darkening capability
- Roofs that don't leak
- Way to improve current lighting in each room (not
enough. outlets); students cannot see chalkboard due to the
glare, but if there were drapes to close the ventilation is
poor

ENGLISH
- Built in storage and bookshelves in classrooms
- Handicap accessibility
- Some rearrangement of bathrooms so that there are more of
them, smaller (so they don't become congregating places) and
located for better supervision (e.g., spaces between
classrooms, etc.)
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
- More electrical outlets in classrooms
- More windows, with shades and screens
- Lighting other than fluorescent
- Projection screens in all classrooms
- More storage/display space in each classroom, such as book shelves
- Cable access in each classroom
- Ceiling fans
- Telephone cluster areas
SCIENCE
- Classrooms with: bathrooms, two-way intercom, windows/screens/room darkeners
SOCIAL STUDIES
- Bathroom should have hot water and be adequately
ventilated; there should be more of them; there should be
facilities for washing hands and drinking water and rest
room use in each classroom
- Classrooms should be placed in such a way that
cross-ventilation is made possible by opening windows and
doors
